Bamboo grows very fast

Bamboo is actually one of the quickest growing plants on earth. There are even some reported growth rates of over 3 feet in 24 hours. Also, unlike other plants (i.e. trees) individual bamboo stems ground at their full diameter & full height in 3-4 months.

Bamboo can get BIG

Interestingly, bamboo can grow up to 98 feet tall and get up to 8 inches in diameter.

Bamboo doesn’t like the cold

It’s true that many bamboo will die at near freezing temps. However some of the more temperate bamboos can survive temperatures as low as ?29 °C (?20 °F).

People eat bamboo

Both humans and other animals (i.e. Pandas) eat bamboo. Bamboo is used in many Asian dishes. People eat the shoots of bamboo and they are available in many supermarkets across Asia.
